New Peugeot 2008 Scores 5-Star Safety Rating as Demand Continues to Outstrip Supply

The European crash testing organisation, Euro NCAP, has released results of its latest round of safety tests and the new Peugeot 2008 crossover scored the maximum five-star rating. The tests carried out by the independent organisation across the four key areas of adult protection, child protection, pedestrian protection and safety assist give assurance of 2008’s high safety levels.

Standard safety equipment on the new Peugeot 2008 includes six airbags, three ISOFIX child seat fixtures, cruise control with speed limiter, electronic stability programme (ESP), with emergency brake assist (EBA), electronic brake force distribution (EBFD), anti-slip regulation (ASR) and dynamic stability control (DSC). Furthermore, a small multi-function steering wheel designed for more driver control, together with a head-up instrument panel, work together to ensure driver attention is focused on the road at all times.

The important Euro NCAP safety rating was announced as Peugeot reports orders from more than 54,000 customers across Europe for new Peugeot 2008. Faced with unprecedented demand, the Mulhouse production plant doubled daily output of the new model to 615 vehicles per day in mid-October, creating 200 new jobs. The two highest trims, Allure and Feline, now represent 71% of the mix in Europe, demonstrating Peugeot’s move up-market.

With a choice of efficient petrol and diesel engines, the new Peugeot 2008 is a compact crossover perfect for town driving, yet at home on country roads. It offers customers an innovative cockpit designed around a small steering wheel and a quality, spacious interior all in a compact, stylish package. Prices start from €18,595 plus delivery charges for the 1.2 VTi 82bhp petrol Access version or from €19,515 plus delivery charges for the 1.4 HDi 70bhp diesel Access version.
